Dr. S. Jenny Klein

 

Dr. Klein earned her Doctorate in Psychology from Long Island University-Post and served as Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Unit Coordinator at New York Health + Hospitals/Jacobi Inpatient Unit before entering private practice. Paving the way to her current role, is a broad scope of experiences working with individuals from adolescents to senior adults dealing with anxiety, depression, burnout, parenting stress, trauma, personality disorders, psychosis, and bipolar disorder. Having been formally trained in both cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic approaches, Dr. Klein takes an integrative and tailored approach to providing care to her clients.

 

As an Intern at Zucker Hillside Hospital/Northwell Hospital, Dr. Klein provided individual therapy and led skills groups using DBT-informed interventions for adolescents at high risk for self-harm and suicide, in addition to providing support and psychoeducation to families. As part of the Outpatient Perinatal team, she worked with mothers and spouses adjusting to the emotional changes and stressors of parenthood. Dr. Klein also worked closely with senior adults in the Partial Hospital Program as they transitioned back to their lives after an acute mental health episode and hospitalization.

Following Internship, Dr. Klein continued on as Fellow for the Adult Inpatient Unit where she functioned as lead psychologist and consulted with a multidisciplinary team on assessment and treatment planning. She also served as Psychological Testing Supervisor for psychology trainees to assess patients for learning disability, neurological impairment, emotional difficulties, as well as provide treatment recommendations.

 

Being an avid practitioner of yoga and fitness training, Dr. Klein incorporates practices that enhance the mind-body connection to support overall physical and mental well-being. Mindfulness meditation and sleep hygiene practices are among the tools that she uses with clients to build emotional resilience in the face of life stressors. In addition, she is currently working towards gaining further expertise in the fields of trauma and addiction, and related treatment innovations.
